The platform SDK requires Phone Sherpa merchant account for certain API and Flash client component usage. All billing and content sales that use Phone Sherpa, such as the Flash billing client or credit card merchant APIs, need a valid MerchantID to be passed as a parameter. A merchant account allows commerce transactions to be tracked and consolidated into one list. Monthly revenue payout from Phone Sherpa to the merchant occurs based on the MerchantID.

A MerchantID is not the same as a WSAccessKey. While a WSAccessKey controls API access, a MerchantID tracks sales and revenue share payout. A partner with multiple product lines may want to have multiple merchant accounts yet use the same WSAccessKey for all their solutions.
