Partners selling content via their Phone Sherpa store recieve monthly "payouts" based on the amount of content sold and thier payout percentage. Payouts are sent monthly to a PayPal account of your choosing. PayPal accounts are free and you do not need one to receive payment (PayPal will prompt you to create an account when you get the first payout).
Many factors are considered when determining the final monthly payout, including:
- Gross Sales - total retail sales for the month
- COGS - cost to deliver goods, varys by user payment method
- Returns - any refunds for purchases for the month
- Net Sales - gross minus COGS and returns, basis for payouts
- Payout Percentage - the percent of net sales given to the partner
The cost of goods sold [COGS] differs by the form of payment made by the customer. Customers using credit cards incur a 20% cost for payment processing and delivery.
Customers billing thier cell phones via PSMS incur a 60% cost for payment processing and delivery fees.
The following is an example of how the payout is calculated for a partner.
- Partner sells 9 ringtones for $1.99 each
- There are 5 credit card and 4 PSMS purchases
- Partner has a 30% payout rate of net sales
- ((RT_Cost * CC_Rate * CC_#) + (RT_Cost * PSMS_Rate * PSMS_#)) * Payout_% = Payout
- (($1.99 * 80% * 5) + ($1.99 * 40% * 4)) * 30% = $3.34
